NHAI to Implement GPS-Based Toll Collection System, Replacing Existing Toll Plazas

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is preparing to implement GPS-based toll collection systems by March 2024, aiming to replace existing toll plazas. Pilot testing of the technology will start on select highways. Incomplete KYC FASTags to Be Deactivated After January 31, 2024

Starting from January 31, 2024, FASTags with incomplete KYC will be deactivated by banks, according to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). NHAI has introduced the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative to improve the efficiency of the electronic toll collection system and facilitate smoother movement at toll plazas. This initiative discourages the use of a single FASTag for multiple vehicles or linking multiple FASTags to one vehicle. NHAI is urging FASTag users to complete the KYC process as per RBI guidelines by updating their latest FASTag. Users must ensure that their latest FASTag has completed KYC to avoid any inconvenience. Previous FASTags should be discarded, and only the latest one will remain active after January 31, 2024.
