At Paytm, we believe in building strong long-lasting teams. We understand that the future of work means making work meaningful for every Paytmer. This also means encouraging them on the path to their growth, career, and self-development.

This year, we introduced a 3-month Management Orientation Program for our EDC- Mid-Managers to reach a much wider audience. Our EDC- Mid-Managers play an important role in contributing to the company’s growth and scale. They are the ones who make the acquisition process, maintain a large portfolio of merchants including servicing, and handle around 30-80 Team Leaders in an area. We believe such management training programs contribute to their success and help them further hone their management skills.

The Management Orientation program was curated to make these Mid-Managers successful in their roles with leadership training, learning all about the fine art of negotiation, and how to be a lead generation pro, among others. Around 50 EDC- Mid-Managers joined the training program from across the country. The program was also designed to make them more effective and efficient to pursue their sales goals. We believe that product knowledge is essential, but connecting with customers can make a huge difference while closing a deal.

The key highlight of the program was to manage self and others on the team. The EDC – Learning & Development team at Paytm focuses on building and maintaining competitive talent advantage. For this, every year we have been introducing several learning and development programs that have been conducted for Paytmers, covering both functional and behavioral aspects.

The three-month tenure was carefully planned to help integrate the EDC- Mid-Managers in Paytm’s high-speed environment with access to learning resources and support. Each week, they were coached on one key aspect of managing self and others in the team. They received constant support in the form of learning and development sessions in the areas – communication, managing self, planning, and people management.

These sessions helped them with a variety of things, including skill-building, giving great presentations, working to improve team dynamics, and working on time management skills. The program also included understanding time management, customer service, sales, engaging in a conversation, relationship-building behaviour, and more.
