The government of India has launched a campaign to link voter ID with an Aadhaar card in order to reduce and eliminate duplicate voter entries. By linking an Aadhaar card to a voter ID card, it becomes impossible to enrol for another or duplicate voter ID card. Explained below are some of the ways to link a voter ID to an Aadhaar card-

To link an Aadhaar card and a voter ID card online, follow the steps below-

  • Gather the Required Documents– Before initiating the process, ensure that you have your Aadhaar card and PAN card readily available
  • Visit the Income Tax e-Filing Portal– Access the official Income Tax e-Filing portal by visiting www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
  • Navigate to the Link Aadhaar Section– Once you’re on the e-Filing portal’s homepage, locate and click on the “Link Aadhaar” option under the “Quick Links” section.
  • Fill in the Details– On the Link Aadhaar page, provide the requested information such as PAN and Aadhaar number in the designated fields.
  • Name as per Aadhaar– Enter your name as it appears on your Aadhaar card.
  • Verify the Captcha Code– To proceed, you will need to verify the captcha code displayed on the screen. Enter the characters exactly as shown.
  • Click on the “Link Aadhaar” Button– Once you’ve filled in the required information and verified the captcha code, click on the “Link Aadhaar” button to initiate the linking process.
  • Verification Status– After submitting the request, the portal will verify the details you provided with the respective authorities. If the details match, your Aadhaar card will be successfully linked with your PAN card.
  • Confirmation Message– Upon successful linking, you will receive a confirmation message indicating the successful Aadhaar-PAN linkage.

    By submitting an application to the respective Booth Level Officer, the user can link an Aadhaar card voter ID card offline (BLO). When the BLO receives the request, it will verify the user’s information in order to link Aadhaar and the Voter ID card.

    How to find BLO details?

    The NVSP official portal allows users to find BLO details by following the instructions-

    • Log in to the official website of NVSP
    • Navigate to ‘Know your Assembly/parliamentary details/BLO details and more’
    • Click on it and enter an EPIC number to search for details

    There is another way to link an Aadhaar card to a voter ID by following the steps outlined below:

    • Send an SMS in the given format- ECILINK<SPACE><EPIC Number/Voter ID card number>< SPACE><Aadhaar Number>
    • Send it to 166 or 51969
    • Make sure to send the SMS from the registered mobile number

    The next way to link Aadhaar card voter ID can be done through a call. The procedure for linking the voter ID card and Aadhaar card is as follows:

    • Dial 1950 between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM on weekdays
    • The executive from the other side will require the user’s voter ID card number and Aadhaar card number
    • Following the submission of the details, the details will be verified before linking the documents
    • The user will be notified once both documents—voter ID and Aadhaar card—have been successfully linked
