Paytm offers several instant ways to send money to others, leveraging the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system. Before you begin, ensure you have the Paytm app installed, an account set up, and a bank account linked to your Paytm UPI.
Here are the primary methods to transfer money using Paytm:
1. Using a Mobile Number or Contact
This is one of the simplest ways to send money, as it doesn't require sensitive bank details.
Steps:
- Open the Paytm app and on the homepage, tap on the "To Mobile or Contact" option.
- You can either enter the recipient's mobile number or select their name from your phone's contact list.
- Enter the amount you wish to send.
- Tap "Pay" and on the next screen, confirm the payment.
- Enter your confidential 4 or 6-digit UPI PIN to authorize the transaction. The money will be transferred instantly.
2. Scanning a QR Code
Ideal for in-person transactions at shops or when someone shows you their QR code.
Steps:
- Tap the "Scan & Pay" option on the Paytm app's home screen.
- Point your phone's camera at the recipient's QR code to scan it.
- Enter the amount to be paid.
- Select your linked bank account and tap "Pay Securely."
- Enter your UPI PIN to complete the payment.
3. Using a Bank Account Number and IFSC Code
For direct transfers to a bank account, even if the recipient doesn't use Paytm.
Steps:
- In the Paytm app, select "To Bank A/c" or "To Bank or UPI ID."
- Choose the option "Enter Bank A/c No & IFSC."
- Enter the recipient's bank account number, IFSC code, and the account holder's name.
- Tap on "Proceed."
- Enter the amount you want to transfer.
- Confirm the transaction by entering your UPI PIN. The transfer will be completed instantly.
4. Using a UPI ID
If the recipient has a UPI ID (also known as a Virtual Payment Address or VPA) from any UPI-enabled app.
Steps:
- Select the "To Bank or UPI ID" option on the home screen.
- Choose to enter a UPI ID.
- Type in the recipient's UPI ID (e.g., example@paytm).
- Enter the amount and proceed with the payment.
