VAHAN and SARATHI Parivahan Sewa Intitiative: Standardizing Vehicle Registration and Driving Licenses
To ensure consistency, accuracy, and timely availability of information related to vehicle registration and driving licenses, it became necessary to establish uniform standards across the country. In order to achieve this, the SCOSTA committee was formed with the objective of recommending standardized software that could be implemented nationwide.
The Parivahan Sewa Ministry of Road Transport and Highways entrusted the National Informatics Centre (N.I.C.) with the task of standardizing and deploying two software applications – VAHAN for Vehicle Registration and SARATHI for Driving Licenses. - Now, click on the ‘Add To My Dashboard’ link once more. This time, input the chassis number and the vehicle’s engine number, which can be found on the physical RC document.
- After successful verification, head to your dashboard within the app.
- From there, you can choose either your DL or RC to display to authorities.
- The app will generate a QR code for document verification by the authorities.
