Paytm wallet is a digital wallet that helps you to perform cashless transactions, through which you can send money to and/or receive money from other Paytm users. You can also add money to your wallet from your bank account via UPI, internet banking, and credit/debit cards.
You can use your Paytm Wallet to perform the following actions:
- Recharge your mobile (both prepaid & postpaid), metro cards & DTH
- Buy & Recharge Paytm FASTag as well as recharge other bank’s FASTags
- Make utility bill payments like electricity bills, gas cylinders/pipelines, landline/broadband, etc.
- Make payments at retail shops, petrol pumps or pay for milk, cab rides, auto-rickshaw rides, your maid’s salary or driver
- Book flight, train, or bus tickets on the Paytm app. You can also use the Paytm Wallet to make payments at IRCTC, or other travel ticket booking sites/apps
- Order food and/or medicines, book movie tickets or events, buy subscriptions, etc.
Let’s take a look at how you can add money to your Paytm wallet-
Add Money to your Paytm Wallet through UPI
You can simply link your bank account with Paytm for fast & easy transactions as it allows you to perform fast-forward transactions on the Paytm app, meaning that you can make payments with a single click. You can make faster bank to bank transfers and/or make payments through third-party apps and other payment gateways.
Follow these quick and easy steps to add money to your Paytm wallet directly through your bank account:
- Open the Paytm mobile application and click the ‘Paytm Wallet’ icon

- The next screen will display various options, one of which is to ‘Add Money’. In this section, enter the amount that you want to add to your Paytm wallet

- Apply a Promo code, if any, and click on ‘Proceed to add Rs. XXX’

- Next, you will be able to see all the linked bank accounts with your Paytm app. Select the account which you want to use to add money to your Paytm wallet and click on ‘Pay Rs. XXX’

- Next, enter your passcode for the particular bank account. The money will be debited from the selected bank account and will be added to your Paytm wallet within a few seconds

- In a few rare cases, where the add money status comes out to be ‘Pending’, you need to wait for a while and the transaction will be completed on its own. There is no need to panic in such a situation, as this would be only because of network connectivity. You can rest assured that your money will either be added to your Paytm wallet or it will be refunded to your bank account
Add Money Through Net Banking
Paytm provides you the option to add money from the bank via Net Banking. Follow these simple steps to add money to the wallet through Internet banking-
- Open the Paytm mobile application and click the ‘Paytm Wallet’ icon

- The next screen will display various options, one of which is to ‘Add Money’. In this section, enter the amount that you want to add to your Paytm wallet

- Apply a Promo code, if any, and click on ‘Proceed to add Rs. XXX’

- Next, you will be able to see all the linked bank accounts with your Paytm app. Upon scrolling down the screen, you will find the option of ‘Net Banking’

- As you proceed with Net banking, you will be asked to select your bank from a list of banks. You can click on ‘View All Banks’ if your bank name is not being displayed

- Select your bank and click on ‘Pay’. Don’t forget to ‘link your bank with your Paytm account for faster payments in the future’

- Next, you will be redirected to the official page of internet banking of your bank, where you will be asked to enter your Customer ID and MPIN in order to log in to your net banking account. Alternatively, you can also log in using your login ID and password

- You can log in to your bank account through internet banking and make the required payment to add money to your wallet.
- Note that if you are a Citibank account holder, then you can use the bank’s internet banking site/app and go to ‘Recharge Wallet’ to add money to Paytm Wallet
Add Money to Paytm Wallet Through Debit/Credit Card
You can add money to your wallet through credit or debit cards associated with any bank. Follow these guidelines to use card payment for adding money to the wallet-
- Open the Paytm mobile application and click the ‘Paytm Wallet’ icon

- The next screen will display various options, one of which is to ‘Add Money’. In this section, enter the amount that you want to add to your Paytm wallet

- Apply a Promo code, if any, and click on ‘Proceed to add Rs. XXX’

- Next, you will be able to see all the linked bank accounts with your Paytm app. Upon scrolling down the screen, you will find the option of ‘Prepaid, Debit and Credit Cards’

- Now, you will be asked to enter your card details. Once you have carefully added and verified those details, click on ‘Pay’

- You will now receive an OTP on your registered mobile number to authenticate the transaction. Enter the OTP and click on ‘Pay’
- The amount will be debited from your credit/debit card and will be added to your wallet
Note that your CVV is not stored in Paytm even if you save the card details. This is for the safety purpose of the consumers. You will have to enter your CVV each time along with the OPT (One Time Password) for each transaction, every time you make a payment or add money to the wallet through cards.
Add Money to Paytm on Third Party Applications
You can not only make payments via the Paytm app on third-party applications but also recharge your wallet through these apps for a seamless experience. This is how you can do it:
- Go to the Payments section of third party apps like Zomato, Uber, etc. where you can save your wallet details
- Note that you will first have to link your wallet to the third party app, post which it will reflect your wallet balance whenever you try to place an order. You can also add money/recharge your wallet right there without opening up the Paytm application separately
- For example, to add money to your Paytm app on a third party app such as Zomato, you need to follow these steps-
- Open the Zomato application on your mobile device
- Click on the small icon visible on the top right corner of the main screen

- Click on the ‘Payments’ option on the top menu bar

- Out of the various payment options, click on the ‘Paytm’ option under the ‘Wallets’ section

- Now, enter your mobile number and click on ‘Continue’ to first link your wallet to the Zomato app

- Enter the OTP sent to your mobile number and click on ‘Proceed’

- Your Paytm wallet is now linked to your Zomato app
- Now, under the ‘Wallets’ section, click on ‘Paytm’ followed by clicking on the ‘Recharge wallet’ option

- Enter the amount that you wish to add to your wallet and click on ‘Proceed to Add Money’

- The list of your linked accounts will be displayed. Select the bank account from which you want to add the money and enter your passcode. Next, click on the ‘Pay’ option

- The money will be debited from your bank account and will be added to your Paytm wallet
Add Money to Wallet via Cash
You can now deposit cash to your Paytm wallet by reaching out to the nearest Paytm Business Correspondent Points (BC Points), also called KYC points. Paytm BC Points are agents who provide Paytm Banking services at various locations. You can not only deposit and withdraw money in Paytm Bank but also deposit cash in your Paytm wallet. Here are a few guidelines:
- Find out the nearest BC point and complete your full KYC in a few easy steps either at the KYC center or through video KYC at home
- After completing full KYC, you can deposit up to INR 1 Lakh per month into your Paytm wallet
- Note that you do not need to pay any extra charges for using this facility by Paytm
The multiple avenues of payment and adding money to the wallet make it user-friendly for the customers to proceed with the option that they find the most convenient. It also enhances the success rate as, if one kind of transaction fails, then the other can be tried out. For instance, if you do not remember the CVV of your credit/debit card, you can add money through UPI. Whether you make the card payment, BHIM UPI, or internet banking, they can be associated with any bank which may or may not be linked to the Paytm account.
