We are enhancing road travel convenience by enabling FASTag recharges directly through our app. This move allows our users to recharge their FASTags anytime and anywhere, avoiding long queues and delays at toll plazas. Furthermore, our users now have the option to purchase new FASTags from HDFC Bank on the app.

FASTags are mandatory for all four-wheeler vehicles and use radio-frequency identification technology (RFID) for a reusable tag affixed to the vehicle’s windscreen. When a vehicle crosses a toll plaza, the FASTag facilitates the instant automatic deduction of toll charges, making toll payments more efficient.

NHAI to Implement GPS-Based Toll Collection System, Replacing Existing Toll Plazas

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is preparing to implement GPS-based toll collection systems by March 2024, aiming to replace existing toll plazas. Pilot testing of the technology will start on select highways. The GPS-toll collection system tracks a vehicle's movements and calculates toll charges based on the distance covered, offering a more equitable approach compared to fixed tolls. It also eliminates the need for cash or change, as the toll amount is automatically deducted from a linked account using a secure electronic payment system. This initiative aims to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance the accuracy of toll collection.

Incomplete KYC FASTags to Be Deactivated After January 31, 2024

Starting from January 31, 2024, FASTags with incomplete KYC will be deactivated by banks, according to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). NHAI has introduced the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative to improve the efficiency of the electronic toll collection system and facilitate smoother movement at toll plazas. This initiative discourages the use of a single FASTag for multiple vehicles or linking multiple FASTags to one vehicle. NHAI is urging FASTag users to complete the KYC process as per RBI guidelines by updating their latest FASTag. Users must ensure that their latest FASTag has completed KYC to avoid any inconvenience. Previous FASTags should be discarded, and only the latest one will remain active after January 31, 2024.
