1. Bank and Limits

  • Daily Transaction Limit Reached: Your bank or the UPI system has a maximum daily transfer limit (usually ₹1 lakh). Check if you've already exhausted this limit for the day.

  • Insufficient Balance: The most common issue. Ensure you have the full required amount in your linked bank account.

  • Incorrect UPI PIN: Entering the wrong PIN will always result in a failure.

2. Technical Issues

  • Temporary Server Downtime: The UPI server or your linked bank's server might be temporarily down.

Action: Wait 5–10 minutes and retry the transaction.

  • Poor Internet Connection: UPI payments require a stable connection. A patchy signal can cause the transaction to time out.

Action: Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or move to an area with better network coverage.

3. Account Status

  • Bank Account Blocked: Your bank account might be temporarily blocked or facing restrictions.

Action: Try re-linking or re-verifying your bank account within the UPI section of the Paytm app.

If all checks are clear (correct balance, good signal) and the failure continues after a few hours, reach out to Paytm Customer Support with your transaction details for an account-specific diagnosis.
