UPI Lite is a feature that allows you to make small-value payments without entering your UPI PIN for every transaction. A small balance is loaded into your UPI Lite wallet, and checking this balance is quick and straightforward.

What is UPI Lite?

UPI Lite is a feature that allows users to make small-value payments instantly without entering a UPI PIN. It works as a separate balance that is loaded from your bank account and stored in UPI Lite for quick use.

When you add money, it is directly deducted from your bank account and reflected in your UPI Lite balance. This feature is mainly used for fast and simple everyday payments like small purchases. UPI Lite also has its own limits and does not affect your regular UPI limit.

Steps to Check Your UPI Lite Balance

Follow the steps below to view your UPI Lite balance on the Paytm App:

  1. Open the Paytm App on your smartphone.
  2. On the home screen, tap on the 'UPI Lite' icon or go to 'UPI & Payment Settings' from your profile.
  3. Your current UPI Lite balance will be displayed clearly on the screen.

What is the Limit of UPI Lite?

UPI Lite Limit refers to the specific caps that apply to your UPI Lite wallet, separate from your regular UPI Limit. Currently, you can hold a maximum balance of ₹5,000 in UPI Lite at any time, make payments of up to ₹1,000 per transaction without entering your UPI PIN, and use up to ₹10,000 cumulatively per day. NPCI sets these limits to keep UPI Lite suited for small, everyday payments while mitigating the risk of unauthorized access.

Once you reach the daily limit, you can either wait for the next day or switch to regular UPI for further transactions.

UPI vs UPI Lite Limit: Key Points

  • No PIN Required to Check: You do not need to enter your UPI PIN to view your UPI Lite balance.
  • Maximum Balance: The maximum amount that can be held in UPI Lite is ₹5,000.
  • Transaction Limit: Each UPI Lite transaction has a maximum limit of ₹1,000, with a cumulative daily usage limit of ₹10,000. This is separate from your regular UPI Limit, which applies to standard PIN-based transactions.
