Saudi Arabia Announces E-Visa Expansion for Indian Travelers
Synopsis:
  • Students from Gujarat heading to the US for winter admissions are experiencing shorter wait times for visa interview slots.
  • The US Embassy announced on November 12 that many visa interview slots are available across India for winter intakes.
  • The improved availability of slots has reduced stress for students and visa consultants, making the process smoother for academic aspirants.
  • Interviews will begin during #InternationalEducationWeek.

Students from Gujarat preparing to study in the United States this winter are elated as visa interview slots are now readily available. This change has significantly reduced the stress of securing appointments, a major challenge in previous years.

An instance of this smooth simplified process is shared by Devendra Prajapati, a recent Class 12 graduate from H B Kapadia High School, Shahibaug. After securing admission to a bachelor’s degree program in finance at a Florida university, he applied for a US student visa a day after receiving his i20 document—a certificate of eligibility for non-immigrant students. “To my surprise, I was given an interview date of December 18, just weeks after applying,” said Prajapati.

Every year, hundreds of students from Gujarat and across India travel to the US for January admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. This year, students are reporting far shorter wait times for visa interviews.

The US Embassy recently announced on social media that numerous interview slots are available across India for the winter intake. “We’re proud to kick off this year’s winter student visa interviews next Monday during #InternationalEducationWeek,” stated the Embassy on November 12.

This development has relieved students and visa consultants, making the process smoother for those planning their academic pursuits in the US.
