There are various supporting documents required while filing your PAN card application. The PAN card is only issued after these supporting documents have been verified (within 15-20 working days).

It is important to note that failing to provide the required documents or submitting lost/expired/insufficient documents can result in a failed PAN card application.

Documents Required for PAN Card by Indian Citizens

Indian citizens must submit the following documents when applying for a PAN card:

  • You must submit an original bank statement with the name of the bank’s branch, the stamp of the issuing officer, the applicant’s photograph, and his/her bank account number
  • Submit an original copy of the identity certificate in the prescribed format, duly signed by a Member of Legislative Assembly, Member of Parliament, Gazetted Officer, or Municipal Councillor
  • Bank/credit card statements and utility bills should be no more than three months old

No, you do not need to submit original documents when applying for a PAN card online. However, if you are applying for a PAN card offline, you must bring your original documents with you so that they can be compared and verified with the submitted copies of the documents.

How much is the PAN card application fee?

PAN card application fee for Indian communication addresses is Rs. 93 and for Foreign communication addresses, it is Rs. 864.

Which online portal (UTIITSL or NSDL) should I use to submit my PAN card online application?

Both UTIITSL and NSDL are affiliated with the Income Tax Department of India and offer PAN card services in India. There is no significant difference between them because they both take the same amount of time to process PAN card applications.
