To create a UPI ID on Paytm, you need the Paytm App, an active bank account, and a mobile number linked to your bank account. When you link your bank account and complete UPI setup, your UPI ID is automatically generated.

What is UPI ID?

A UPI ID is a unique virtual payment address linked to your bank account that allows you to send and receive money instantly. It eliminates the need to share your bank account number or IFSC code while receiving payments. Your UPI ID is automatically generated when you activate UPI on Paytm.

Steps to Create Your UPI ID on Paytm App

1. Open the Paytm App on your smartphone.
2. Tap on your profile icon at the top-left corner.
3. Go to 'UPI & Payment Settings'.
4. Tap on 'Link Bank Account' or 'Add Bank Account'.
5. Select your bank account from the list of available banks.
6. Verify your mobile number linked with your bank account.
7. Set your UPI PIN using your debit card details to complete the setup.

Once your UPI account is set up, Paytm automatically generates multiple UPI ID options linked to your bank account. You can choose one of the available UPI IDs and set it as your primary UPI ID for sending or receiving money. You can also change your primary UPI ID anytime from the UPI settings.

What is a Personalized UPI ID?

A Personalized UPI ID on Paytm is a preferred UPI ID option that you can select from the available system-generated UPI IDs linked to your bank account. You cannot create a custom UPI ID manually; Paytm provides multiple options, and you can choose one that is easier to remember and set it as your primary UPI ID.
