Your UPI ID is your unique payment address that allows you to send and receive money instantly. Here's a complete guide to creating and managing UPI IDs on Paytm.

Creating Your First UPI ID

When you link a bank account to Paytm, a UPI ID is automatically created. Here's how:

  1. Open the Paytm App.
  2. Tap on profile icon > 'UPI & Payment Settings'.
  3. Select 'Link Bank Account' or 'Add a Bank Account'.
  4. Choose your bank from the list.
  5. Verify via SMS (your mobile number must be linked to the bank account).
  6. Set a UPI PIN using your debit card details.
  7. Your UPI ID is created automatically!

Managing Multiple UPI IDs

You can have multiple UPI IDs linked to different bank accounts:

View All UPI IDs

  1. Go to Profile > 'UPI & Payment Settings'.
  2. Tap on 'UPI ID' to see all your linked IDs.

Set Primary UPI ID

  1. In the UPI ID section, tap on the three dots next to a UPI ID.
  2. Select 'Set as Primary'.
  3. This ID will be used as your default for receiving payments.

Change UPI ID Format

  1. Tap on 'Change Primary UPI ID'.
  2. Choose from available formats like @ptaxis, @pthdfc, @ptsbi, etc.
  3. Tap 'Proceed' to confirm.

Managing Bank Accounts

Add New Bank Account

  • Go to 'UPI & Payment Settings' > 'Add Bank Account'.
  • Follow the verification process.
  • A new UPI ID will be created for this account.

Remove Bank Account

  • Go to the bank account you want to remove.
  • Tap on 'Remove' or 'Delink'.
  • The associated UPI ID will be deactivated.

Tips for Managing UPI IDs

  • Keep Primary Updated: Set your most-used account as primary.
  • Remember Your PIN: Each bank account has its own UPI PIN.
  • Share Wisely: Only share your UPI ID with trusted contacts.
