If you want to change your UPI ID, it is important to know that you cannot edit an existing UPI ID or create a new one manually. However, you can choose from the available UPI IDs linked to your account and set your preferred one as the primary UPI ID.

Understanding UPI ID Changes

  • Cannot Edit: You cannot modify an existing UPI ID once it is created.
  • Cannot Create Manually: UPI IDs are system-generated by Paytm and your bank.
  • Can Switch Primary: You can choose which available UPI ID is your default.
  • Multiple Options: Paytm may show different UPI ID formats linked to your bank account.

Follow these steps to manage and change your available UPI ID on Paytm:

  4. Tap on the UPI ID section.
  5. View the list of available UPI IDs linked to your account.
  6. Tap the three dots (⋮) next to the UPI ID you want to use.

Your selected UPI ID will be used when you share your payment details with others to receive money.

What is a Personalized UPI ID on Paytm?

A Personalized UPI ID is a custom-looking UPI ID option that allows users to choose a preferred format from the available system-generated UPI IDs instead of using a random default one.

On Paytm, it is not manually created; instead, Paytm shows multiple UPI ID options linked to your bank account, and you can select the one that is easiest to remember or share. Once selected, it becomes your primary UPI ID for sending and receiving money.

How to Choose a Personalised UPI ID on Paytm

After activating UPI, you can check the available UPI ID options and select your preferred one as the primary UPI ID.

  1. Open the Paytm app.
  2. Go to UPI & Payment Settings from your profile section.
  3. Open the UPI ID management section.
  4. Select your preferred UPI ID and set it as the primary ID.

Your primary UPI ID is the one shared when you receive payments from others.

Important Notes

  • Old UPI IDs Remain Active: Even after changing the primary ID, other UPI IDs still work.
  • No Manual Creation: UPI IDs cannot be custom-created on Paytm.
  • Bank-Based Formats: UPI ID formats depend on your bank and Paytm system (e.g., @pthdfc, @ptsbi).
