Setting up UPI on Paytm is quick and easy. Follow this guide to activate UPI and start making instant bank-to-bank payments.
Prerequisites
Before activating UPI, ensure you have:
- A smartphone with the Paytm App installed.
- An active bank account with mobile banking enabled.
- Your mobile number linked to the bank account.
- Your debit card details (for setting UPI PIN).
Steps to Activate UPI on Paytm
Step 1: Open Paytm and Login
- Download Paytm from Play Store or App Store (if not installed).
- Open the app and log in with your mobile number.
- Verify with OTP.
Step 2: Link Your Bank Account
- Tap on your profile icon at the top-left corner.
- Select 'UPI & Payment Settings'.
- Tap 'Link Bank Account' or 'Add Bank Account'.
- Choose your bank from the list of supported banks.
- Paytm will automatically detect your account linked to your mobile number.
Step 3: Verify Your Account
- Paytm sends an SMS from your phone to verify your mobile number with the bank.
- This verification is automatic—just ensure SMS permissions are granted.
- Your bank account details will be fetched automatically.
Step 4: Create UPI PIN
- Enter the last 6 digits of your debit card number.
- Enter the card's expiry date.
- An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- Enter the OTP and create a UPI PIN (4 or 6 digits).
- Confirm your UPI PIN.
Step 5: Start Using UPI
Your UPI is now activated! You can:
- Send money to UPI ID, mobile number, or bank account.
- Scan QR codes to pay merchants.
- Receive money using your UPI ID.
- Pay bills and recharges.
Troubleshooting
- Account Not Found: Ensure your mobile number is registered with your bank.
- SMS Verification Failed: Check if SMS permissions are enabled for Paytm.
- Invalid Card Details: Double-check your debit card number and expiry date.
