Want to remove a UPI ID from your Paytm account? Here's how you can delete or deactivate UPI IDs that you no longer need.
Understanding UPI ID Deletion
- UPI IDs are linked to bank accounts. To delete a UPI ID, you need to delink the associated bank account.
- Primary UPI ID: If you delete the bank account linked to your primary UPI ID, you'll need to set another one as primary.
- Cannot delete all: At least one bank account and UPI ID must remain if you want to continue using UPI.
Steps to Delete/Delink a UPI ID
Option 1: Remove Bank Account (Deletes Associated UPI ID)
- Open the Paytm App.
- Tap on your profile icon at the top-left corner.
- Go to 'UPI & Payment Settings'.
- Tap on 'Bank Accounts' or 'Linked Accounts'.
- Select the bank account whose UPI ID you want to delete.
- Tap 'Remove' or 'Delink Bank Account'.
- Confirm the removal when prompted.
- The UPI ID associated with this account will be deactivated.
Option 2: Contact Support for Specific UPI ID Deletion
If you need to delete only the UPI ID without removing the bank account:
- Go to '24x7 Help' in the Paytm App.
- Search for 'Delete UPI ID' or similar.
- Raise a request with Paytm support.
- Provide the UPI ID you want to delete.
What Happens After Deletion
- No More Payments: You cannot send or receive money using the deleted UPI ID.
- Pending Transactions: Complete all pending transactions before deleting.
- Re-creation: You can create a new UPI ID by linking a bank account again.
