What is the maximum limit for a UPI transaction?

The standard maximum limit for a UPI transaction is ₹1 lakh per day. However, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has approved higher limits for specific categories:

• ₹5 lakh per transaction for payments to hospitals, educational institutions, IPO subscriptions, and RBI Retail Direct Schemes.
• ₹5 lakh per transaction (with a ₹10 lakh daily cap) for tax payments, capital markets, insurance, and travel.
• ₹2 lakh per transaction for jewellery and certain digital account fundings.

Individual banks may also set lower daily or transaction-specific limits based on their internal policies.
