How to write cross cheque

To write a cross cheque, draw two parallel diagonal lines on the top-left corner of the cheque. This instruction tells the bank that the funds must be deposited into a bank account and cannot be cashed over the counter. Follow these steps for added security:
  • Draw two parallel lines on the top-left corner.
  • Write A/C Payee or Account Payee between these lines to ensure only the named recipient receives the funds.
  • Fill in the payee’s name, date, and amount in words and figures.
  • Sign the cheque as per bank records.
