How to write a cross cheque

To write a cross cheque, draw two parallel transverse lines across the top-left corner or the face of the cheque. This indicates that the amount must be deposited into a bank account and cannot be encashed over the counter. Follow these steps for a secure transaction:
  • Draw two parallel lines on the top-left corner.
  • Write A/C Payee or Account Payee between the lines to ensure only the named recipient receives the funds.
  • Fill in the date, payee's name, and the amount in words and figures.
  • Sign the cheque as per your bank records.
