How to make a cross cheque

To make a crossed cheque, draw two parallel transverse lines across the top-left corner of the cheque. This marking instructs the bank that the funds must be deposited directly into a bank account rather than being encashed over the counter. For enhanced security, you can follow these steps:
  • Write A/C Payee or Account Payee between the two parallel lines to ensure the amount is credited only to the specified recipient's account.
  • Fill in the date, payee name, and the amount in both words and figures as usual.
  • Sign the cheque as per your bank records.
