How much time it takes to clear cheque

In India, the time taken to clear a cheque depends on the clearing system used:

• Continuous Clearing (New System): Since October 4, 2025, cheques deposited between 10 am and 4 pm are processed hourly, with funds typically reaching accounts within just a few hours on the same day.
• Standard Clearing (CTS): Historically, local cheques cleared via the Cheque Truncation System (CTS) took 1 to 2 business days.
• Outstation Cheques: These can still take 2 to 3 business days, or longer if from remote locations.
