How much time to clear cheque

In India, the time taken to clear a cheque typically depends on the type of clearing:

• Local Cheques: Generally cleared within 1 to 2 working days through the Cheque Truncation System (CTS).
• Outstation Cheques: Usually take 2 to 3 working days, though remote locations may take longer.
• New RBI Guidelines: Starting October 2025, a continuous clearing mechanism will be introduced in phases. This will reduce the clearing cycle to just a few hours, allowing funds to be credited to the beneficiary's account on the same day as the deposit.
