How many days does it take to clear a cheque

In India, the time taken to clear a cheque depends on the clearing system used:

• Continuous Clearing: Since October 4, 2025, most cheques deposited during business hours (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM) are cleared within a few hours on the same day.
• Standard CTS Clearing: For cheques not processed via continuous clearing, it typically takes 1 to 2 working days (T+1 or T+2).
• Outstation Cheques: Cheques from different clearing zones may take 3 to 5 working days.

Clearing times may vary due to bank holidays or late-day deposits.
