How much time it takes for cheque to clear

In India, the time taken for a cheque to clear generally depends on the type of cheque and the location of the banks involved. With the implementation of the Cheque Truncation System (CTS) by the RBI, clearing has become much faster.

• CTS (Local) Cheques: These are usually cleared within 1 to 2 working days.
• Outstation Cheques: Clearing for cheques from branches outside the local area may take 3 to 5 working days.
• Bank Holidays: Clearing times may be extended if there are public or bank holidays during the process.
