A Glimpse of Active August: Our Take at a Desk-Friendly Yoga Session

In today’s fast-paced work environment, it’s easy to find ourselves glued to our desks for hours on end, often neglecting our physical well-being. To address this, Paytm Swasthya organised the Active August Virtual Class series, dedicated to promoting wellness even during the busiest of workdays. We are committed to fostering a culture that values health and balance, and this session was a perfect example of that commitment in action.

The session ‘Stay Fit While Working at Your Desk’ was led by a certified yoga teacher from Delhi University Ritika Saini. She brought a wealth of knowledge and energy to the session, guiding us through yoga poses and stretches that can be seamlessly incorporated into our daily routines. She focused on simple, yet effective desk-friendly exercises that target the most common areas of tension — neck, shoulders, and lower back. These movements, designed to improve posture and relieve the physical strain caused by prolonged sitting, were a revelation to many of us who often forget the toll desk work can take on our bodies.

But it wasn’t just about stretching and movement, she also emphasised the importance of mindful breathing as a way to reduce stress and refocus throughout the day. Her demonstration of breathing techniques showed Paytmers how something as simple as deep, intentional breaths can make a significant difference mentally and physically. She reminded us that these small practices are not just quick fixes, but essential habits that can lead to long-term wellness.

The practical advice on maintaining proper posture while working was helpful. She offered insights into how adjusting our seating arrangements, monitor height, and even how we place our feet can contribute to a more comfortable and healthy work setup. Her tips were easy to follow and left Paytmers feeling empowered to make immediate changes to their workstations.
