We have partnered with Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) to launch QR code-based ticketing for metro travel. With this, commuters can get the mobile QR ticket on our Paytm app under the Metro Section, by simply mentioning the station of entry and destination station on the day of the journey.

Passengers can just hold their smartphone in front of the QR code scanner of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates at both entry and exit stations to proceed for the journey.

The QR-based ticketing at Chennai Metro stations will lead to an efficient, and hassle-free movement for lakhs of metro commuters in Chennai. We offer the flexibility of payment options like Paytm Wallet, Paytm UPI, Paytm UPI Lite, Paytm Postpaid, net-banking or cards.

“Our partnership with Paytm is another step in providing metro commuters with simple ticketing alternatives. CMRL has always been on the forefront in delivering innovative seamless ticketing systems for the benefit of passengers, reducing queues at metro stations. Passengers will be able to purchase their tickets straight on the move on the Paytm app. This not only saves them time, but it is also a step in the right way towards sustainability.”

Rajesh Chaturvedi, Director (Systems & Operations) at Chennai Metro Rail Ltd

“As the pioneer of QR based payments, we aim to offer convenience and ease of digital ticketing to metro commuters, helping them save time. Using this facility, Chennai Metro Rail passengers will be able to skip the long queues to buy physical tokens. We continue to strive to bring innovative smart mobility and payment solutions for Indians.”
