The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a clarification regarding misinformation circulating on social media about toll collection from two-wheelers. NHAI confirmed that two-wheelers are not required to pay any user fee at toll plazas on National Highways and National Expressways across India.The authority also emphasized that toll charges are collected strictly as per the National Highway Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. Currently, there is no proposal to introduce toll fees for two-wheelers.
Who Needs to Pay User Fees?
According to the 2008 rules, toll fees are applicable only to vehicles with four or more wheels. The categories of vehicles required to pay user fees are:
