What is E-Challan?
E-challan is an electronically generated fine document issued to a person for the violation of the traffic rules. E-challan was introduced by the government to increase transparency in the service and to reduce traffic violations. E-challan payment in Kerala has to be done within 60 days from the date of challan issuance.
How to Check E-Challan Status in Kerala?
An individual can check the RTO e-challan status by following these simple steps:
Step 1– Visit the official website for e-challan issuance provided by the transport department of Kerala.
Step 2– Click on the option of ‘check challan status’ from the menu bar
Step 3– Enter the vehicle registration number, challan number and captcha code
Step 4– Click on ‘Get Details’. The challan related information will be reflected on the screen
How to Pay E-challan Using Kerala Traffic Police Challan Payment System?
By following these simple steps an individual can make Kerala traffic fine payment online through the state’s official website-
Step1– Visit the official website of the Kerala police government to make the payment
Step 2– Enter the vehicle number
Step 3– Click on the ‘Search’ option
Step 4– The screen will display the amount to be paid, violation made and CCTV photos (If the violation is captured on the road camera)
Step 5– Click on the ‘Pay’ button
Step 6– The individual will be directed to the net-banking page
Step 7– The payee can make the payment using the debit card, credit card, net-banking, etc.

On Paytm Mobile App
- Open the Paytm Mobile Application on your phone
- Click on ‘Recharge and Pay Bills’
- Scroll Down to find ‘Challan’ and click on it
- Select the ‘Traffic Authority’
- Enter the required details such as Challan ID/Number, vehicle number, etc.
- Click on ‘Proceed’ to check the fine amount
- Choose the preferred mode of payment from credit card, debit card, Paytm wallet, Paytm postpaid, UPI & Net Banking
- Once you complete the payment you will receive a notification regarding the same
On Paytm Website
- Go to the ‘Challan Bill Payment’ page on the Paytm website
- Choose the ‘Traffic Authority’
- Enter the required details such as Challan ID/Number, vehicle number, etc.
- Click on ‘Proceed’ to check the fine amount
- Choose the preferred mode of payment from credit card, debit card, Paytm wallet, Paytm postpaid, UPI & Net Banking
- Once you complete the payment you will receive a notification regarding the same
Note- Currently, individuals can pay challan for Andhra Pradesh, Faridabad, Chennai, Telangana & Maharashtra traffic authorities only at Paytm. For traffic authorities other than this the individuals can check online if they allow e-challan payment.
