To start making UPI payments, you need to link your bank account with a UPI-enabled app like Paytm. During setup, you may need to verify your bank account and create a UPI PIN.
How to Activate UPI Using a Debit Card?
- Open the Paytm app on your smartphone.
- Go to your profile and tap on UPI & Payment Settings.
- Select your linked bank account and choose the option to create or set your UPI PIN.
- Enter your debit card details, such as the last six digits of your debit card and expiry date, as required for verification.
- Complete the verification process using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Set your UPI PIN after successful verification.
Once your UPI PIN is created, you can start sending money, receiving payments, paying bills, and making digital transactions through Paytm UPI.
How to Activate UPI Without a Debit Card?
If you do not have a debit card, you may still be able to activate UPI, depending on your bank's supported verification options. Some banks allow users to complete UPI activation using Aadhaar-based authentication:
- Open the Paytm app and start the UPI registration process.
- Select your bank account linked with your mobile number.
- Choose the Aadhaar-based verification option (if supported by your bank).
- Provide the required Aadhaar details and complete the authentication process.
- Create your UPI PIN after successful verification.
To use this option, make sure:
- Your mobile number is linked with your bank account.
- The same mobile number is linked with your Aadhaar.
- Your Aadhaar details match your bank records.
- Your bank supports Aadhaar-based UPI activation.
