As a merchant, verifying payment receipts is essential to ensure all transactions are successfully credited to your account. Here's how to verify payments on Paytm.
Ways to Verify Payment Receipts
1. Through Paytm for Business App
The most reliable method to verify payments:
- Open the Paytm for Business App.
- Go to 'Transactions' or 'Payment History'.
- You'll see a list of all recent transactions.
- Each transaction shows:
- Amount received
- Payment mode (UPI, Card, etc.)
- Customer's name/UPI ID
- Transaction ID
- Date and time
2. Through Soundbox Announcement
- The Soundbox announces each payment with the exact amount.
- Listen carefully to confirm the amount matches what the customer says they paid.
- Note: Always cross-verify with the app for large transactions.
3. Check Bank Statement
For final confirmation:
- Log in to your linked bank account.
- Check the credit entries from Paytm.
- Settlement usually happens within T+1 day (next business day).
Verifying a Specific Transaction
If a customer claims they made a payment but you didn't receive it:
- Ask for the Transaction ID or UTR number.
- Search for this ID in your Paytm for Business App.
- If the transaction shows 'Successful', the money is credited.
- If not found, ask the customer to check their payment app status.
Understanding Transaction Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|
| Successful | Payment credited to your account |
| Pending | Transaction is being processed |
| Failed | Transaction failed, money returned to customer |
Tips for Merchants
- Don't Rely Only on Screenshots: Verify in the app, as screenshots can be fake.
- Wait for Soundbox Confirmation: For UPI payments, the Soundbox announces instantly.
