How is a UPI ID generated?

A UPI ID is generated by registering your bank-linked mobile number on a UPI-enabled application. The process involves:

• Linking your bank account to the app using your registered mobile number.
• Verifying your account details through an automated SMS sent from your device.
• Setting up a secure UPI PIN using your debit card details (last six digits and expiry date).
• The app then creates a unique Virtual Payment Address (VPA), typically in the format of yourname@bankname or mobilenumber@bankname.
