Do we get charged for an UPI transaction?

Generally, individual users are not charged for UPI transactions, including peer-to-peer (P2P) and peer-to-merchant (P2M) transfers between bank accounts. However, an interchange fee of 1.1% may be charged on transactions exceeding ₹2,000 when made through Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs). This fee is usually absorbed by the merchant or wallet issuer, not the customer. Paytm confirms that UPI transactions for individuals are generally free.
