Are there any charges in UPI?

Generally, UPI transactions for personal use are free of charge, including peer-to-peer and peer-to-merchant transfers between bank accounts. However, an interchange fee of 1.1% is charged on transactions exceeding ₹2,000 when made through Prepaid Payment Instruments. Merchants, not users, usually pay this fee for certain categories of transactions.
