To make a driving licence (DL) in India, you must complete two stages:

• First, apply for a Learner's Licence (LL) online via the Sarathi website or at your RTO, and pass the LL test.
• After holding the LL for at least 30 days (and within six months), apply for the Permanent DL and book a slot for the practical driving test.
• Upon passing the driving test at the RTO, your Permanent Driving Licence will be issued and delivered to your registered address.
