To obtain a driving licence in India, you must first apply for a learner's licence (LL). This can be done online through the Sarathi portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways or offline at your local RTO. Once you pass a written knowledge test, the LL is issued, which is valid for six months. After a minimum of 30 days from the LL issuance, you can apply for a permanent driving licence and schedule a practical driving test at the RTO. The permanent licence is issued upon successfully clearing this test.
