How to know cheque number

The cheque number is a unique 6-digit identifier found at the bottom-left corner of every cheque leaf. It is the first set of six digits in the MICR line, printed using special magnetic ink. This number helps account holders and banks track the status of specific transactions. Additionally, you can find the cheque number:
  • In your bank passbook under the transaction details once the cheque is processed
  • On the cheque book stub or record slip for your personal reference
  • At the top-right corner of the cheque leaf in certain bank formats
