Where is the cheque number written

The cheque number is a unique 6-digit identifier printed at the bottom-left corner of every cheque leaf. It is the first set of numbers in the MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) line, typically followed by the 9-digit MICR code and a portion of the account number. You can locate it as follows:
  • Bottom-Left Corner: It is the first six digits on the lower white strip of the cheque.
  • Bank Statements: For processed cheques, the number is also recorded in your passbook or online transaction history to help you track its status.
