How many days to clear cheque

Under the new RBI guidelines effective from October 2025, cheques in India now clear within a few hours on the same working day, replacing the older cycle of 1 to 3 business days. The clearing time depends on when the cheque is presented:

• Phase 1 (Oct 2025 – Jan 2026): Cheques deposited between 10 AM and 4 PM are processed continuously, with funds typically credited the same day.
• Phase 2 (From Jan 3, 2026): Banks must confirm clearing within a three-hour window of presentation, enabling near real-time fund availability.

To ensure same-day credit, deposit your cheque before the 4 PM cut-off.
