What is a Demat Account ?
A Demat account is a digital account that is used to hold and manage securities such as stocks, bonds, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in electronic form. While a mutual fund account allows you to invest in mutual funds, it does not allow you to invest in individual stocks or other securities.
Why should you open a Demat account?
- Safe and Secure: A DEMAT account is a safe and secure way to hold your securities. It eliminates the need for physical certificates, which can be lost, stolen, or damaged.
- Convenience: Holding securities in a DEMAT account is more convenient than physical certificates. You can buy and sell securities online through your Paytm Money mobile app.
- Access to IPOs: With a DEMAT account, you can apply for initial public offerings (IPOs) online. This makes it easier to invest in new companies and take advantage of early bird pricing.
- Automatic credit of bonus stocks, rights issues, and split shares for holdings in your DEMAT account
