Prerequisites: What You Need Before Using UPI International

To use this service, you need to do the following:

  1. Activate UPI Global: Open your UPI-powered app (like Paytm) and enable the “UPI Global” or “UPI International” feature for your bank account.
  2. Check if Your Bank and Country are Supported: Not all banks or countries support this yet. You can check the latest list on the official NPCI website.

How to Use UPI Global at an International Merchant

Follow these simple steps to pay at an international store:

1. Find a Store That Accepts UPI

  • Look for the BHIM UPI logo or partner QR code at the billing counter.
  • Ask the store if they accept UPI-based payments.

2. Scan the QR Code

  • Open your UPI app and scan the merchant’s QR code.

3. Check the Payment Details

  • Make sure to review:
    • Amount in foreign currency
    • Amount in Indian Rupees (INR)

4. Enter Your UPI PIN

  • Once everything looks correct, enter your UPI PIN to approve the payment.
