Important Update: Enhancing Your UPI Payment Experience with New UPI IDs

You may have received SMS notifications from your banks about new UPI ID creation. We want to let you know that this process is to make your payment experience with Paytm even more seamless. Rest assured, your UPI on the Paytm app is working and will continue to work securely and reliably . Additionally, UPI Lite and UPI Auto Pay will continue to work as usual, allowing you to enjoy uninterrupted services.

Why the Change?

We have partnered with four of India’s leading banks—SBI, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, and Yes Bank—to handle all UPI transactions on your Paytm app. This collaboration allows us to create new UPI IDs for you, which we have notified you via SMS, email, and Paytm app notifications. For those who did not opt out, we have securely processed the new UPI IDs. Starting August 1, 2024, these new UPI IDs will be used to send and receive payments on the Paytm app.

1. Where do I check my new UPI ID?

You can always check your new UPI ID on the Paytm Home Page. You can also click on your profile section at the top left corner of the Paytm app or scroll down and click on the ‘UPI & Payment Settings’ page to display your new UPI ID, which could be @pthdfc, @ptaxis, @ptsbi, or @ptyes.

2. Why did I receive SMS/Notification that a new UPI ID is created?

This is part of the UPI ID creation and notification process. You received an SMS from one of our partner banks and/or your linked bank accounts on the Paytm app to create a new UPI ID – @pthdfc, @ptaxis, @ptsbi, or @ptyes.

3. Why did I receive a new UPI ID without my prior consent?

We sent notifications via SMS, email, newspaper ads, and pop-up notifications on the Paytm app to inform you about opting out of the creation of new UPI IDs. For all users who did not opt out, we have securely processed the new UPI IDs to ensure an uninterrupted payments experience.

4. Why is my @Paytm handle not working?

Your @Paytm handle has been updated to ensure a seamless and secure payment experience. The UPI IDs have transitioned from @paytm to one or more of the following: @pthdfc, @ptaxis, @ptsbi, or @ptyes. This change was communicated through various channels. Please check your new UPI ID in the ‘UPI & Payment Settings’ page on the Paytm app or by clicking on your profile section at the top left corner of the app.

5. Will I lose my transaction history?

No, you will not lose your transaction history. All your past transactions will remain intact and accessible on the Paytm app.

6. Do I have to link my bank account again?

No, you do not have to link your bank account again. Once your new UPI ID is created, all your linked bank accounts in the Paytm app will automatically get associated with the new UPI ID. Your primary bank account for receiving money remains the same.

7. What happens to my linked RuPay credit card, UPI Lite, and other services?

All your linked services, including RuPay credit card, UPI Lite, and UPI Auto Pay, will continue to function as usual. The update to your UPI ID will not affect these services, and you can continue to use them without any interruption. Your money remains safe, and the security and reliability of your transactions are maintained.

8. How can I reach Paytm customer service for assistance with the changes in my UPI handle?

To reach our customer service for queries related to UPI handle changes, follow these steps:

  • Open your Paytm app > Click on your initials at the top left corner > Scroll down and click on Help and Support > Click on UPI > Click on “Queries regarding UPI handle change.”
  • Alternatively, you can visit: Paytm Help Link. Please note, this link will only work on mobile devices and will take you to the ‘Help and Support’ section on the Paytm app. It does not work on desktop or laptop computers.

9. How can I change my UPI ID if it is my mobile number?

We are currently working on providing the option to change your UPI ID that is your mobile number on the Paytm app. Our apologies for the inconvenience in the meantime. We will update you as soon as this feature is available.

10. Can I create a new UPI ID on my own in the Paytm app and link it to my bank accounts?

Absolutely! Existing users can create a new UPI ID with any of our partner banks by following these steps in the Paytm app:

Open your Paytm app > Click on your initials at the top left corner > scroll down and click UPI & Payment Settings > View UPI ID > Activate UPI ID of your choice

11. Does my new UPI ID get associated with all my bank accounts linked in the Paytm app?

Yes, as soon as a new UPI ID is created, all your linked bank accounts in the Paytm app automatically get associated with the new UPI ID. Your primary bank account for receiving money remains the same.

If you prefer not to use UPI on the Paytm app, you can always go to the UPI settings, select your bank account, and delete the linked bank accounts. However, we believe that our UPI services will greatly enhance your Paytm experience, and we are committed to continuing our long-term partnership with you.

NPCI’s Auto Top-Up for UPI Lite from October 31

Starting October 31, 2024, UPI Lite users will benefit from an auto top-up feature, automatically reloading their balance for small-value, PIN-less transactions under ₹500. RBI Hikes UPI Tax Payment Limit to Rs 5 Lakh

UPI Limit for Tax Payments Increased from Rs 1 Lakh to Rs 5 Lakh

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has increased the UPI limit for tax payments from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. This means you can now pay larger tax amounts quickly and easily using UPI.

Effective immediately, taxpayers can transfer up to Rs 5 lakh in a single UPI transaction for paying taxes. This move aims to simplify the tax payment process and encourage digital payments. Additionally, the RBI has introduced 'delegated payments' through UPI, allowing users to authorize another person to make UPI payments from their account.

These measures are expected to make tax payments more convenient and boost digital payment adoption across India.
