The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has kicked off its nationwide “Special Campaign 5.0” to speed up the disposal of pending matters, improve cleanliness, and streamline its record-keeping systems. This initiative continues the department’s annual tradition of boosting efficiency and focusing on pensioner welfare.
Ambitious Targets for Grievance Redressal
This year, the department has set ambitious goals to clear its backlog. It aims to resolve 7,500 public grievances, including outstanding appeals from pensioners. To streamline its records, the department has identified 2,409 physical files and 5,300 electronic files for review during the campaign. Out of the physical files, 35 have already been marked for disposal to free up space and declutter offices.
Focus on “Ease of Living” and Swachhta
A key focus of the campaign is to enhance the “ease of living” for retirees. As part of this effort, 20 existing rules are being reviewed to simplify processes and make them more convenient for pensioners. The campaign also strongly emphasizes “Swachhta” (cleanliness), with comprehensive clean-up drives planned at 59 sites across the country.
Leadership and Monitoring
Shri V. Srinivas, the Secretary of the Pension Department, officially launched the campaign by participating in the shredding of old, reviewed records. While inspecting office facilities, he urged the staff to give their maximum effort to achieve the campaign’s targets.
To ensure accountability and track progress, a dedicated group will monitor the campaign’s advancements daily. These updates will be reported through a central portal managed by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).
