The Income Tax Department is urging everyone to be aware of false information circulating online. A news clipping from a Gujarati newspaper claiming an extension on filing income tax returns (ITR) is FAKE NEWS. The actual deadline for e-filing your ITR for the financial year 2023-24 remains July 31, 2024.
Don’t be misled! The department advises taxpayers only to trust information from their official website (https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/).
