Report a Dirty NHAI Toilet, Get a ₹1,000 FASTag Recharge
In a unique move to improve hygiene and public participation, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched the ‘Clean Toilet Picture Challenge’. As part of its ‘Special Campaign 5.0’, this initiative encourages highway users to report dirty toilets at toll plazas and rewards them for their vigilance.
The campaign, which runs until October 31, 2025, allows any National Highway user to report an unclean toilet facility and receive a ₹1,000 in the form of FASTag recharge for their effort.
How to Participate
The process is simple and can be completed through NHAI’s official mobile application.
- Download the App: Ensure you have the latest version of the ‘Rajmargyatra’ app on your smartphone.
- Snap a Picture: If you find a dirty toilet at an NHAI-operated toll plaza, take a clear, geo-tagged picture directly through the app.
- Submit Details: Upload the picture along with your name, location, Vehicle Registration Number (VRN), and mobile number.
The Reward and Key Conditions
To ensure fairness and effectiveness, NHAI has set a few clear rules for the challenge:
- The Reward: Each valid report will earn the user ₹1,000 in the form of a FASTag recharge, which will be credited to the FASTag account linked to the submitted Vehicle Registration Number (VRN). The reward is non-transferable and cannot be claimed as cash.
- Which Toilets are Covered? The challenge is only applicable to toilets constructed, operated, or maintained under NHAI’s jurisdiction, primarily at toll plazas. Toilets at private fuel stations, dhabas, or other public facilities are excluded.
- One Reward Per Vehicle: Each vehicle (identified by its VRN) is eligible for only one reward during the entire campaign period.
- First Come, First Served: Only the first valid report for a specific toilet facility on any given day will be eligible for the reward. Subsequent reports for the same toilet on the same day will not be considered.
All entries will be verified using a combination of AI-assisted screening and manual validation to prevent misuse.
This initiative is part of a broader government effort to enhance cleanliness, transparency, and efficiency, aiming to improve the overall travel experience on National Highways.
