Minimum Balance

byPaytm Editorial TeamLast Updated: November 14, 2025

Meaning

Minimum Balance is the lowest amount of money that must be kept in a bank account to keep it active and avoid penalty charges.

How It Works

Banks set different minimum balance requirements for savings and current accounts. If your balance goes below the set limit, the bank may charge a small fee.

Example

If the minimum balance is ₹5,000 and your account has ₹4,000, a penalty might apply.
