2FA (Two-Factor Authentication)

byDilip PrasadLast Updated: July 31, 2025

Meaning

The full form of 2FA is Two-Factor Authentication. It is a security process that requires users to verify their identity using two different methods before gaining access to an account or completing a transaction.

How It Works

2FA combines two out of three types of authentication factors:

  1. Something you know (like a password or PIN)
  2. Something you have (like an OTP sent to your phone)
  3. Something you are (like fingerprint or face recognition)

Why It’s Important

2FA greatly reduces the risk of unauthorized access, making your digital payments, banking, and login systems more secure.

Use Cases

Used in UPI payments, online banking, wallet logins, and mobile apps.
