It is important to know that the Paytm Wallet service is currently not available for use. This means the old rules for completing Minimum KYC specifically for the Wallet are no longer applicable.

The main focus for verification on Paytm is now on preparing your account for UPI payments:

Basic Check During Account Setup

  • A basic verification check is usually completed when you first set up your Paytm account. This is a simple check to verify your identity and link your mobile number to the platform.
  • This initial step allows you to properly link your bank account for UPI services.

UPI Payments: Why Full KYC is Not Required

  • You DO NOT need to complete Full KYC to use UPI on Paytm.
  • UPI works by connecting your bank account directly to the app. When you link your bank account, a basic verification is done once during this process.

If Prompted for Basic Details

If the app asks for basic details (like an Aadhaar or PAN) during setup, this is the simple verification check you need to complete. Once done, you are clear to link your bank account and begin using UPI.

When You Might See a KYC Prompt

Sometimes, verification prompts (like a KYC check) are asked in between usage in case of any issue or error with your account or a transaction. This is usually a security measure to re-confirm your identity.
