To ensure a safe and secure money transfer on Paytm, follow these essential security practices:
Activate Paytm Security Shield: Utilize the Paytm Security Shield feature to add an extra layer of security, requiring authentication every time you open the app, even if your phone is unlocked.
Never Share Your OTP or PIN: Your UPI PIN and the One-Time Password (OTP) are strictly confidential. Never share them with anyone, including people claiming to be from Paytm, bank, or police.
Verify the Receiver: Double-check the recipient's VPA (Virtual Payment Address), mobile number, or bank account details before hitting 'Send'. Always confirm the recipient's name that appears before authorizing the transfer.
Remember: No PIN to Receive: You never need to enter your UPI PIN or any password to receive money. If you are asked for a PIN or OTP to receive a payment, it is a scam; immediately disconnect.
Use Screen Lock and Strong Password: Protect your phone and the Paytm app with a strong screen lock (PIN, pattern, or biometric) and keep your Paytm password complex.
Beware of QR Code Scams: Be cautious of scanning unknown QR codes. Only scan codes provided by verified merchants or known contacts for making a payment.
Update Your App: Always use the latest version of the Paytm app. Updates include security patches and new fraud protection measures.
Report Phishing: If you receive suspicious calls, SMS, or emails asking for personal details, report them immediately to Paytm Customer Support and never respond to them.
Your UPI PIN is only required when you are sending money or checking your bank balance.
