Why is there no UPI in the USA?

The USA has not adopted UPI due to several existing challenges in its payment systems. These include limited bank interoperability, where current payment apps are often restricted to certain banks. Unlike UPI's instant, real-time transfers, the US systems can face delayed settlements and risk management issues concerning transaction finality, hindering seamless, nationwide real-time digital adoption.
