Why do UPI transactions fail?

UPI transactions can fail due to several technical and account-related factors. According to NPCI guidelines, the primary reasons include:
  • Insufficient funds in the payer's bank account.
  • Entering an incorrect UPI PIN.
  • Exceeding daily or per-transaction limits set by the bank or NPCI.
  • Technical glitches or downtime at the remitter or beneficiary bank's servers.
  • Weak or unstable internet connectivity.
  • Entering an incorrect or inactive UPI ID of the recipient.
  • Account-related issues such as a blocked or frozen bank account.
